Bing Crosby (1903 - 1977) : A Cavanagh green trilby hat, size 7 3/8, owned and worn by the entertainer, on a burr walnut wall-mount, with engraved brass plaque "BING CROSBY's HAT", together with a framed certificate of authenticity dated 14 February 2002. Provenance : This hat was originally purchased by the late Mr John Joyce of Gateshead as lot number 2213 when he attended "The Bing Crosby Memorabilia Sale" held by Butterfield & Butterfield Auctioneers in San Francisco, California on Friday 28 May 1982 (the hat still carries the original lot ticket for this sale). The lot was then sold at auction by ourselves on 14 February 2002 on John Joyce's passing as lot 208 in a sale dedicated entirely to his collection of Bing Crosby Memorabilia.
