Heenan, At Farnborough April 17th 1860 for the Championship of England & America, The Farnborough fight itself, a keenly fought and by all accounts bloody affair that lasted for over an hour, between the American champion, Heenan (1835-73) and the English champion, Sayers (1826-65), ended in chaos when the large crowd invaded the ring and stopped proceedings as the American heavyweight seemed poised for victory.
